Scale

To create this classic dish, gather the following ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground turkey or chicken: A lean protein option that forms the base of our meatballs.
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs: Helps bind the meatballs and gives them a perfect texture.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese: Adds a savory depth of flavor to the meatballs.
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley: Provides freshness and a pop of color.
  • 1 egg: Acts as a binding agent for the meatballs.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced: Infuses the meatballs with a robust flavor.
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning: A blend of herbs that enhances the overall taste.
  • Salt & pepper to taste: Essential seasonings to enhance the flavor.
  • 1 jar marinara sauce: The rich and tangy base for our dish.
  • 12 oz spaghetti: The perfect pasta to serve with our meatballs.
  • Olive oil for cooking: Adds flavor and helps in cooking the meatballs.

Instructions

Follow these simple steps to prepare your Classic Manhattan Meatball Spaghetti:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it’s ready for baking the meatballs.
  2. Prepare the Meatball Mixture:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey or chicken, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, and season with salt and pepper.
    • Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
  3. Form the Meatballs:
    • Shape the mixture into meatballs, approximately 1 inch in diameter.
    • Place them evenly spaced on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or lightly greased with olive oil.
  4. Bake the Meatballs:
    • Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the meatballs are golden and cooked through.
  5. Prepare the Marinara Sauce:
    • While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a large pot over medium heat.
  6. Cook the Spaghetti:
    • In a separate pot, bring water to a boil, add a pinch of salt, and cook the spaghetti according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  7. Combine Meatballs and Sauce:
    • Once the meatballs are baked, add them to the pot with the simmering marinara sauce and let them simmer together for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  8. Serve:
    • Serve the meatballs and sauce over the cooked spaghetti, garnished with extra parsley or Parmesan if desired.
