Preparation Steps
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and place the rack in the center.
- Peel, core, and slice about 6 apples into 1/4-inch wedges. Toss with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cornstarch.
- Mix together rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, nutmeg, and cold cubed butter in a bowl until coarse crumbs form.
- Spread the apple filling in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, pressing down lightly.
- Evenly scatter the oat topping over the apples and gently press it down.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes until the topping is golden brown and bubbling.
- Let it rest for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm, optionally topped with ice cream.
