Ingredients
  

For the Dough
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour use bread flour for extra chewiness
  • tsp active dry yeast proof in warm water
  • 1 cup whole milk warm to 110°F
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter softened
  • 1 large egg beaten
For the Honey Butter Topping
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3 tbsp honey star ingredient
  • flaky sea salt optional

Method
 

For the Dough
  1. In a bowl, whisk together warm milk with active dry yeast and granulated sugar. Let stand until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt.
  3. Add softened unsalted butter and beaten egg to the yeast mixture, then stir into dry ingredients until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, approximately 8-10 minutes.
  5. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Punch down dough, divide into 12 equal pieces, and roll into balls. Place seam-side down in a greased pan.
  7. Cover pan and let rolls rise until nearly doubled, about 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
For the Honey Butter Topping
  1. Mix softened butter with honey until smooth and creamy.
  2. Brush honey butter over warm rolls and sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.
