How to Make Cheesy Ham and Broccoli Pasta Bake
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Boil salted water in a large pot and cook penne pasta until al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain well.
  3. Steam broccoli florets in a steamer basket over simmering water for 3–4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  4. Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  5. Whisk in flour and cook for 2 minutes until bubbly. Gradually whisk in milk and simmer until thickened, about 3–4 minutes.
  6. Stir in cheddar and mozzarella until fully melted, creating a smooth sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
  7. Combine drained pasta, diced ham, and broccoli in the prepared dish. Pour cheese sauce over, tossing gently.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes until bubbly and golden brown. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
